Local History & Genealogy

Visit our Local History & Genealogy Department to access our collection of books, local history files, newspapers on microfilm, and other documents relating to the history of the Collingwood area.

Our collection includes histories of local towns and townships, schools, theatres, historical and residential buildings, and places of worship. We also have business directories, telephone books, and local high school yearbooks.

Our local history department focuses on Collingwood, Simcoe, Grey and Bruce Counties but also contains some books relating to other parts of the province.

Our genealogy collection includes an extensive collection of birth, marriage, and death registration records for the Town of Collingwood and townships in Simcoe, Grey, and Bruce Counties. There are census records for these counties, plus transcriptions of the cemeteries for the Town of Collingwood and the various townships in Simcoe, Grey, and Bruce Counties.

The library has a small collection of guidebooks to help patrons with their genealogical research.
